Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act and Stream Assessments

The Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act (CBPA) was enacted to improve the water quality within the Chesapeake Bay through effective land management and land use planning. In Virginia, our state government is tasked with the delicate balance of improving the water quality of the bay while still allowing reasonable development within its watershed. The CBPA is state mandated but enforced at the local level by each city or county. At COVA Environmental we are committed to providing the link between our clients and the CBPA regulators to determine the amount of developable land and amount of land that is required to remain in its natural state. COVA Environmental is proud to represent our clients to any local CBPA enforcement agency across the entire state of Virginia. Our comprehensive studies include stream assessments and/or the analysis of wetlands in and around your project site to determine if they are subjected to regulations under the CBPA. We will work with local agencies to determine the project specific requirements mandated by the CBPA.
